Kensington Palace reopens after £12 million restoration

The London home of Queen Victoria and Princess Diana is reopening to the public after a £12 million makeover, timed to coincide with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Originally built in 1605 as a private country house, Kensington Palace was purchased in 1689 by King William III and Queen Mary II, eager to escape Whitehall.
